YOUGETMOUTH.COM AFRICAN NATIONS CUP PREVIEW: ALGERIA (GROUP B )
After impressing at Brazil 2014, the Algerians will now be very hopeful of Winning Afcon 2017. To achieve that goal, they will expect the best from their core of players performing in major European leagues, such as Nabil Bentaleb, Yacine Brahimi, Sofiane Feghouli, Riyad Mahrez, Carl Medjani and Islam Slimani.. Algeria were Nations Cup victors when they hosted the tournament back in 1990 and haven’t played in a single final before that.Since then Algeria have botched the start of their bid to get to the next World Cup in Russia with two poor results vs Nigeria and Zambia and three coaches in one year attest to the turmoil they have gone through‚ leaving their Gabon chances a major question. They still however boast world class talents and the game versus Senegal should be a cracker
Returning for a second spell, Georges Leekens succeeded Milovan Rajevac as Algeria coach on 27 October 2016. In his previous spell in charge of the Fennecs, Leekens led the North Africans to qualification for the 2004 CAF Africa Cup of Nations. Vastly experienced, Leekens also led his native Belgium to the 1998 FIFA World Cup France™.
