WHERE YOU DESTINED TO BE RICH? HERE ARE THE SIGNS TO KNOW IF YOU ARE ONE OF THE LUCKY ONES
High earners develop their money-making skills in the womb, new research claims.
Scientists have found evidence to show men with shorter index fingers and longer ring fingers are far more likely to achieve financial success.
This ratio reflects the level of perinatal testosterone said man was exposed to in the womb during pregnancy.
For women, however, the researchers found the opposite: the smaller the ratio between the two fingers (i.e., the lower their exposure to testosterone), the more they earned.
While the ring-index finger ratio (or, the 2D:4D ratio) has been studied before, this study by Russia’s Higher School of Economics is the first to relate it to personal income.
For the study, published in the journal Economics and Human Biology, the researchers carried out an analysis of data on around 2,000 people.
The participants, an even split of men and women, were aged between 25 and 60.
The researchers measured each person’s 2D:4D ratio using a specialized apparatus.
They also asked them a number of questions concerning income and salaries.
The results showed a negative correlation between the income and 2D:4D ratios of women.
In other words, the higher the salary, the lower the ratio for women.
The effect was negative even when taking into account salary predictors such as gender, age, education level, job position, and the position’s economic sector.
For men it was the opposite – except for those small-ratioed men who had a high level of education.
Income is merely the latest aspect of life scientists have analyzed in connection with the 2D:4D ratio.
According to research last year, those with an index finger longer than their ring finger are likely to be bad at sports but better at verbal memory tasks, a new study says.
