SUPER EAGLES GRAB VITAL WIN VS LIBYA TO BOOST QUALIFICATION CHANCES AT 2019 AFCON
Super Eagles of Nigeria continued where they left off on saturday by Defeating the Mediterranean Knights of Libya 3-2 in Sfax Tunisia in their Group E 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier on Tuesday, October 16.
Red Hot striker Odion Ighalo netted a brace to save Nigeria’s blushes in the tense encounter that saw the Super eagles Dominate the opening 20minutes of the game playing a strong and compact game and netting twice in 10minutes with the Home team still looking out of sorts.
Ighalo scored his first of the night in the 14th minute before turning provider as Ahmed Musa doubled Nigeria’s lead to make it 2-0. At this point the Eagles were flying.
But they took their foot of the gas and allowed the Libyans get a foot hold in the game. The sloppiness came into the visitors’ game and the Libyans pulled one goal back just before the halftime though Mohamed Zubya.
Naturally the goal boosted their morale as they suddenly looked spurred to go on and win it after Ahmed Benali equalised in the 74th minute of the match. But Ighalo who had looked dangerous over the two legs, completed his brace in the 81st minute to get all the three points for the Super Eagles. And he did in style totally bamboozling two defenders with a deft touch of his right foot before tucking the ball in the net with his left foot
Ighalo’s goal ensured that the Super Eagles are now top of Group E of the AFCON 2019 qualifiers and look good to qualify after the final round of matches in a Month’s time.
