SUPER EAGLES BOOK TICKET TO RUSSIA 2018 WORLD CUP

And so the Super Eagles booked their ticket to the 2018 World Cup with victory over Zambia on Saturday.

Nigeria began the day knowing victory would be enough to secure passage from Group B and they duly delivered with a 1-0 win thanks to Arsenal’s Alex Iwobi, who came off the bench to score.

The goal came in the 73rd minute when Chelsea’s Victor Moses and Abdullahi Shehu linked up on the right, with the latter cutting back for Iwobi to slot home.

What a game it was though..Not much in terms of goals but very action packed. The Zambians were Worthy opponents and gave a good account of themselves.

They were quick and in the early stages of the First half the Oyinbo wall did not know how to cope with them. Eventually they did but that did not stop them from being Dangerous.

The Super Eagles Marshalled by Mikel obi were business like and kept their eyes on the task ahead. Which was bagging the much needed 3 points. Victor moses was his usual Lively self making dangerous runs that gave the Zambian defence night mares.

One of his speedy runs saw him ghost in on the right side wher he swung in a delicious cross that Strike partner Ighalo narrowly failed to connect with, That should have been 1-0.

The Zambians grew into the game Chungu Let off a long range pile driver in the 40th minute that came off the post.Ezenwa should have done better though, it would have been a poor goal to concede.

So the 1st half ended on a stalemate. The 2nd began with Nigeria taking the game to Zambia looking for that all imprtant Goal to break their Resistance. It came after Iwobi a 70th minute Sub swept home a good pull out from Shehu after more Good work from Victor moses. The stadium went bananas as the relief was palapable on every face.

The boys managed to close the game out despite the best efforts of the Zambians to find an Equalizer.
