SKY REMAINS BLUE REVIEW: CHELSEA TAKE ARSENAL SWEEP GROUND 3-1 FOR STAMFORD BRIDGE
It was another master class performance from Chelsea as they seemed to have rubber-stamped their intention not to slip up in the title challenge,it’s their title to loose now after a convincing win at the bridge against an Arsenal side that didn’t show enough hunger to win regardless of loosing their last EPL fixture at home to Watford.
The reverse fixture was still very fresh in the minds of Chelsea faithfuls when in September 2016 Chelsea lost 3-0 at the Emirates..then it was a Chelsea side that lacked cohesion and diagonal coverage, besides it was also before the advent of the 3-4-3 formation..infact it was after the loss to Arsenal that Antonio Conte introduced the winning formation that has kept Chelsea on a roller-coaster ride ever since. So for Conte and his gang it was simply payback time and they did it in style..I never doubted this win for Chelsea because from the get go they were so fired up for it with Eden Hazard at his best.Pedro started ahead of Willian and for me it was a very good tactical change because Willian is more of a power player as against the Spaniard whose more technical and fluent in counter attack..As expected it was a high tempo game as Chelsea burst loose with the pace and trickery of Hazard in the early stages supported by Pedro,it was the Spaniard’s right wing cross that found Diego Costa’s head but hit the woodwork before Marco Alonso rose above Hector Bellerin to tuck in the header for the first goal on 13MINS.
Bellerin got injured from the head collision with Alonso and some thought the goal shouldn’t have counted. But it did and Gabriel paulista replaced him as he could not recover immediately..Arsenal needed a quick response as Alexi Sanchez and Walcott who started ahead of Oliver Giroud had some fine dashing runs but didn’t quite cause problems for CHELSEA in the first half..and it ended 1-0 at half time..
Chelsea started the second half like a house on fire with David Luis also getting into the thick of Things..Hazard was a constant threat to Mustafi who was drafted at right back and it was the Belgian who got Chelsea second goal in the 53rd minute with a solo run that caught both Koscielny and Coquelin off guard.Cech was helpless with Arsene Wenger watching from the stands. From that moment Chelsea lost a little steam after the introduction of Danny Welbeck. My oh my!! that kid sure has some burst of energy..Thibaut Courtois made two fantastic saves off Welbeck headers as Arsenal pressed for that all important goal..but not just after Cesc Fabregas came on to finish the job against his old club with a well tailored chip in the 85th minute after Cech error kick..3-0 and roars from the bridge went crazy..and the revenge was complete..but Oliver Giroud who i felt should have started got a consolation goal as he headed home after 90mins..in all Courtois had five beautiful saves(9/10)and how can I leave my man of the match out..Chelsea’s best buy Ngolo Kante..I lost count of how many interception he had in the middle…9/10..in all 12 points clear is phenomenal and I honestly feel the title already in store..
Lai lai I nor fit flogg any body with this kpefilicious win today..last time I flogg Alonso and him behave today..Conte na 10/10 for me jor!! Hazard 9/10..
The pride of London is Chelsea! !!
The blues!! Na we dey untop!!
