NPFL RESCHEDULED GAMES: RANGERS, WIKKI VICTORIOUS AS RIVERS UNITED DRAW.
Nigeria Professional Football League champions Enugu Rangers recorded their second win of the campaign following a 2-1 victory against a 10-man Lobi Stars side in a rescheduled match-day seven fixture on Wednesday. The champions were rock bottom of the league at the start of this game but the much needed 3 points will go some way in easing tension around the Enugu outfit.
Former Enyimba forward Daniel Etor scored the curtain raiser for the Flying Antelopes, who prior to the game had recorded just one win from their last five games in all competitions.
Lobi Stars who are without defeat in their last five league games rallied back and netted from the spot through Kingsley Eduwo in the 57th minute.
His effort was initially saved by goalkeeper Nana Bonsu but he scored from the rebound.
The visitors were reduced to 10 men when Chinedu James was sent off 10 minutes from time.
Rangers took advantage of the numerical strength and scored the winner courtesy of a fine header by Bobby Clement on the stroke of 90 minutes.
In another rescheduled week seven game, Rivers United were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Kano Pillars who picked their first point on the road this season.
Ghanaian striker, Godbless Asamoah, had put the home side ahead on the dot of half time, while Amos Gyang levelled scores for Kadiri Ikhana’s men in the 57th minute for their first away goal this season.
Destiny Ashadi’s 20-yard screamer helped Katsina United beat FC IfeanyiUbah 1-0 at the Muhammad Dikko Stadium in Katsina.
Wikki Tourists also beat Shooting Stars 1-0 at the Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi. In a keenly contested game the ibadan outfit gave a good account of themselves only to just fall short of sharing the spoils.
