LIVERPOOL IN STRONG POSITION TO WIN FIRST PREMIERSHIP AFTER CHELSEA WIN
Liverpool look like they are on the cusp of something big as far as the premier league is concerned. As great a club as they are, and of all the rich history they possess, they have not won the premier league title and they are desperate to change that this season. With just four games left and having the far more easier closing than closest rival Mancity. Is it premature for the Champagne to be placed on ice?
Their Latest victim at the Anfeild stadium last weekend was former champions Chelsea whose form has been very tupsy turvy and very anyhow in the league. Sitting in 4th on the table and desperate to also get something out of the game to help their own Top 4 battle Chelsea were expected to provide a stiff challenge but they were blown away by the Moving train that the Reds currently are.
Mohammeed salah celebrates his sensational strike to kill Chelsea off
The First half was a story of near misses and intense pressing but no goals were recorded. Fabhino was on fire for the Reds as he was the man detailed to keep Eden Hazard quiet, which he succeeded in doing in that 1st half. He would go on to have Hazard’s number all game and made several tackles throughout the 90 minutes. The few times he lost the Belgian almost led to goals but other than that he was kept in check all through. Alongside Naby Keita and Jordan Henderson, they won and kept the Midfield as Chelsea struggled to get a hold of things.
In the 2nd half Henderson, who scored against Porto during the week provided an excellent chipped cross for Sadio Mane at the far post to head in the first goal against Chelsea. It appears that playing alongside Fabinho has allowed Henderson to be more creative and fluent. The goal was greeted with relief as the home team were starting to get tense. Buoyed by the confidence, the midfield ran amock on a hapless chelsea with Ngolo Kante and Jorghino looking totally outclassed and Sarri unable to peg the rampaging reds back. The 2nd goal was a thing of beauty as Mohammd salah a former Chelsea player emphatically nailed the coffin with a sensational goal from outside the box. Kepa stood no chance.
The blues should have pulled one back through Hazard, but the Upright saved Liverpool’s blushes. Another chance came through Hazard again, but it was wasted. Liverpool with the Victory shot back to the Top of the League 2 points ahead of Mancity but with 1 game ahead. They are doing what they have to do (which is winning their games) although wining the league is not in their hands because if Mancity win all their remaining games and Liverpool do same, Mancity will be Champions. The need the Sky blues to drop points. Will they? only time will tell.
