Battle Line Drawn: Big Guns Barca and Manchester City want Arsenal Hot shot Bellerin
Manchester City and Barcelona are openly courting Hector Bellerin. And this is official.
Both clubs have made the 21-year-old Spain right-full back their top target.
They asked about him in the summer transfer window to which Arsenal slammed the door shut in their faces but news emerging states that they will return in January, although he will be a more realistic signing at the end of the season.
Bellerin was born in Barcelona and left the Nou Camp for Arsenal five years ago, at the age of 16. Barca need a new right back after Dani Alves’s shock departure to Juventus and boss Luis Enrique believes the Catalan club could have an emotional pull on the youngster.
City also have strong appeal, though, and a secret weapon. Former Barcelona midfielder Pep Guardiola was a hero for Bellerin growing up but more significant is the presence of Mikel Arteta at the Etihad.
Spaniard Arteta saw Bellerin burst through the ranks at Arsenal and the pair, who signed in the same summer for the north London club, developed a close relationship before Arteta left the Emirates for a coaching role at the end of last season.
speaking earlier in an interview in 2016 Hector said: Mikel and his wife adopted me when I arrived. ‘I was a kid and he has been like a father to me.
‘He has been instrumental in my integration into the Arsenal.’
Bellerin has been in contract talks with Arsenal for months but has yet to extend the four-year deal he signed in 2015.
He has made rapid progress since breaking into Arsene Wenger’s team seizing his chance when £12million signing Mathieu Debuchy was injured and making the place his own.
In May, he made his debut for Spain and was selected in the squad for Euro 2016.
Arsenal fans will definitely be unhappy to hear Barcelona is sniffing around one of their players again.. They won’t haven’t forgotten the long drawn out Fabregas saga that ended with the Mid-feilder leaving the Emirates Stadium in 2011.
Arsene Wenger is an admirer of Hector Bellerin and will give both Clubs a run for thier money. Bellerin is under contract and though every player has a price, This will be a long drawn out episode.
Later this Night Arsenal will be in action against Nottingham Forest where they will come face to face with EX-player Nicklaus Benndtner. A striker wildly tipped to do big things in the game but fell off miserably.
Players like Bellerin are set to be rested alongside other first teamers like Ozil, Sanchez, Koscielny and Carzola.
Granit Xhaka and Lucas Perez will be looking to get much needed Game time aginst the championship team.
