As a proud Manchester United Fan..I can confidently say Arsenal are one of the teams i derive so much joy in defeating. You know why? so their fans can cry melodious tunes in my ear…After 2 seasons where frankly they have spanked us at their so called Fortress the Emirates stadium. Yesterday it was my turn to spank Holy moses out of them. The boasting these people boasted before the game was just a sight to behold. Ozil will do this, Sanchez will do that, Lacazette will do this…Hmm i was just quietly confident that Mourinho will come up with something..But to my surprise and Joy we met an Arsenal team that had begun Christmas Celebrations earlier than most people. To the point they even had two well wrapped presents waiting for us..awwww.. Bless their hearts.

Antonio Valencia opened the scoring early on for the visitors

Valencia celebrates his 1st goal last night.

They thought they were smart, after Lying to the press that Lacazette would miss out with a possible Groin Injury. Lo and Behold he started. The plan no still work, so the joke was on them. Tactically its difficult to say how Jose wanted to prepare for this game. But if we are to take anything from the line up and Formation. It was a 3-4-3 formation comprising Young, Matic, Pogba, Valencia in the Middle and Smalling, Lindelof and Rojo at the back.

When you play Arsenal you have got to be ready to work, as they are good in Ball movement and spatial arrangement. They can pass it all day long. But they also give it away too, so you have got to be ready when they do to capitalize. Jose choked the middle but not in a traditional manner, he did it with a mindset of pace to transit from Defence to attack swiftly. That’s why Lingard started.

The game was barely 4mins old when Santaclaus Koscielny gave us his first gift. An unforced misplaced pass intended for his teammate that was not only heavy but it was slightly ahead. of the target. Valencia was on it in a flash gave the ball to Pogba who found Valencia again and he finished through the legs of Cech. 1-0.

Jesse Lingard scored twice to secure the three points for United

Lingard grabs 2nd for United

We hadn’t finished saying thank you to the Good natured GunNers for that one before they dashed us another one. Santaclaus Mustafi was suddenly possessed by the spirit of Johan Cryuff and he foolishly tried to Turn Lingard, who picked his pocket found Martial, the french man re-found Lingard with a sweet Reverse pass and bang 2-0!

Then came the point in the game where we really suffered. With a two-goal advantage to defend, we were happy to sit deep and keep the Gunners at arm’s length but we almost paid the price when Alex Lacazette’s close-range shot was diverted against the bar by David De Gea before Granit Xhaka lashed the rebound just inches wide.

There was another huge let-off for us when Lukaku hacked the ball towards his own goal as he tried to clear Mesut Ozil’s 45th minute free-kick but it was saved by De Gea’s fabulous reaction save.

Yet even De Gea was left helpless when Arsenal finally reduced the arrears five minutes after the break when Lacazzette converted Aaron Ramsey’s selfless pull-back from close range. 2-1. And mehn i feared the worst at this time..Cos the Home team where really dominating us.

Arsenal were now throwing everything at us and were almost caught on the counter attack when Lingard’s shot was pushed against the post by Cech.

Yet De Gea continued to be by far the busier keeper and the Spanish international was soon back in action with an unbelievable double-save to thwart Lacazette and then Sanchez. (You need to see the Look on Laazette’s face after this passage of play..sheer disbeleif)

It was to prove a decisive moment in the game as minutes later Lingard restored our two-goal advantage with a simple tap-in after Pogba had powered his way past Koscielny and squared the ball in the box.

But still the drama was not finished and 15 minutes from the end Pogba was shown a straight red card by referee Andre Marriner when he followed through on Bellerin and clearly stamped on the defender’s outstretched leg. He will now Miss the Manchester Derby which is a big blow for us. But we cant worry about that too much. Lets not let that get in the way of celebrating a truly satisfying win ..GGG

Mourinho praised his boys for a proffesional job and how they remained calm despite all the waves of attack from Arsenal as they tried to claw back from 2-0: He even Told David de gea, ” i saw the best Goal keeper in the world tonight”

David De Gea: “It was a difficult game. I’m really happy. We scored two quick goals but at the end of the first half we lost control of the game.

“In the second half they scored the first goal and the sending off of Paul, it was difficult.

“It’s a win and I think all of the team defended really well for the 90 minutes.”
