Arsenal have been advised to smash their wage structure in order to keep hold of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.

The two stars were integral in Tuesday night’s 6-0 Champions League demolition of Ludogorets but are yet to pen new contracts at the Emirates.

Arsene Wenger maintains his two best players will remain beyond their current contracts, which run to the end of next season, although talks have been protracted.

Ozil and Sanchez are expected to command wages way in excess of £200,000 a week and David Seaman implored Wenger to break the bank.

‘They will have to break the wage structure. These two are quality players so you give them what they deserve,’ Seaman said as he was inducted into the National Football Museum’s Hall of Fame.

‘If that’s the top wages at Arsenal then so be it. You’ve got to make sure that the players that influence the team the most, are the players that get paid the most.’

The pair will become the highest-paid in Arsenal’s history if they do agree fresh terms and their 12 goals already this season is a major factor in sitting level with Manchester City at the Premier League’s summit.

Seaman claimed others in Wenger’s squad will need rises in order to avoid potential for disharmony. Arsenal are in the process of trying to tie City target Hector Bellerin down to a long-term deal.

‘If everyone’s getting little rises here and there then it’s OK,’ the former goalkeeper added. ‘You’ve got to juggle that. I remember when I was playing, I was near the top, and it’s a juggling thing.’

Arsenal go into Saturday’s clash with Middlesbrough on the back of seven straight wins in all competitions.
There is a feeling in north London that this could be the year they finally secure a title. And while Seaman credits the summer captures of Granit Xhaka and Shkodran Mustafi, he is wary of this campaign going the same way as previous failed tilts at becoming champions.

‘They’ve had a great start,’ Seaman said. ‘They’ve made great signings in the summer, which is positive, and if you look at the way they’re playing, they’re doing well.

‘But they’ve done well in this part of the season before it’s when you get to the last quarter of the season when it coincides with the Champions League knockout stages. If we get knocked out we seem to have a little dip in our league form.

We need to get rid of that, make sure we’re ready for that if it happens and then we kick on from there. We’ve got a good chance this season.

‘With the signings, I know a lot of people were like, ‘oh, they made them late’ but it doesn’t matter. You are buying players to fit into your team and that’s what’s happened – you look at Xhaka, Mustafi, they’ve fitted in really well.

‘The club had to change because now there’s more money in the league so you are paying more for the players.’

world class talents like Ozil and Sanchez are the kinds of players you need in your team in Europe if you want to compete with the Bayern’s , Barcelona’s, Real madrid’s etc.. its absolutely crucial the gunners do what is needful to ensure these talented stars do not leave the Emirates.
